Désirée Ellinger - 1897-1951, English actress and soprano in musical comedy; on the West End stage she starred in Sylvia's Lovers, and on Broadway The Wild Rose in 1926, and The Wild Rose and Cherry Blossoms in 1927. She appeared in films including A Chinese Moon and In a Japanese Garden, and her recording of the song "Why Did You Kiss my Heart Away?" was extremely popular. She was extremely famous in her day, and her 1919 marriage to a war hero, Lt. Col. Gracie Fields - 1898-1979; British actress, singer and comedienne; a star of cinema and music hall. She first appeared on stage at the age of seven, and soon became popular in revue, and in 1924 she appeared in Mr. Tower of London on the West End stage. In 1931 she starred in the film Sally in Our Alley, singing the song that was to become her signature tune. She made many films in Britain and the USA, including Sing as We Go, Keep Smiling, Shipyard Sally and Molly and Me. She was a major recording artist, and her songs included The Biggest Aspidestra in the World and Wish Me Luck as You Wave Me Goodbye - 3.25 x 5 inches (8 x 12.5 cm) autographed photo, nicely signed in blue-black ink. £40

Walter Fitzgerald - 1896-1976, British actor. As a young man he toured with John Martin-Harvey and Seymour Hicks. From the mid-1930s he appeared in numerous films, frequently in "authority" roles as doctors, lawyers or senior policemen. In films he is probably best remembered as Squire Trelawny in Treasure Island; other films include: The Winslow Boy, In Which we Serve, The Pickwick Papers, The Cockleshell Heroes, Around the World in Eighty Days and H.M.S. Frank Forbes-Robertson - 1895-1947, British theatre actor, illegitimate son of Sir Johnstone Forbes Robertson and Dame Ellen Terry. Brought up in secret on the Isle of Wight by foster parents, early attempts to conceal his identity were abandoned because of his striking resemblence to his father, and in due course similar superb acting. Like Johnstone before him he founded his own theatre company and was hugely successful in Jerome K. Johnstone Forbes Robertson - 1855-1937, British actor and theatre manager, considered one of the finest actors of his time and the greatest Hamlet of the 19th century. He played leads in Henry Irving's theatre company, including Romeo, Othello and Lerontes. He was hugely successful in W.S. Gilbert's play Dan'l Druce, Blacksmith.
