Robert Taylor - 1911-1969; American actor who starred in over 50 movies, including Quo Vadis, Ivanhoe, Magnificent Obsession and Billy the Kid. In the 1960s he starred in several TV series, including The Detectives Starring Robert Taylor and Death Valley Days - 5 x 7 inches (13 x 18 cm) autographed photo in dark blue ink. At Daly's Theatre she starred in The Geisha, A Greek Slave and San Toy. Sybil Thorndike - 1882-1976, British actress who gained a name for herself playing Shakespeare roles in touring companies in the USA, then during WW1 at the Old Vic. In 1924 she played the title role in George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan, a role which she frequently played for the next two decades. She and her husband, Sir Lewis Casson, were active members of the Labour Party, supporting the 1926 General Strike. in 1931 she was made a Dame. During WW2 she played Shakespeare with Laurence Olivier and John Gielgud, and numerous roles in her old age included playing in Uncle Vanya with Sir Laurence Olivier at Chichester. Her numerous film roles included Edith Cavell in Dawn, and General Baines in Major Barbara - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed photo, signed: "All good wishes from Sybil Thorndike", with seven-word message from her on reverse. Richard Todd - 1919-2009, Irish-born British actor. Jack Trevor - 1890-1976, German-born British actor, who appeared in 67 films between 1922 and 1943, including Pages of Life, The Great Longing, Folly of Love, and Hitchcock's Champagne. In the 1920s and 1930s his film career was mostly in Germany, but when the talkies came, his German proved not to be good enough, and he took small roles at first. Although he had served as an officer the Manchester Regiment in the First World War, winning the Military Cross and being badly wounded in 1916, after the Second World War he was sentenced to three years imprisonment for making propaganda films for Joseph Goebbels, a sentence which was soon quashed when he was deemed to have been acting under duress.
