Henry Ainley - 1879-1945; British actor, who had a long and distinguished stage career. He first gained fame in Herbert beerbohm Tree's theatre company as Paolo in Paolo and Francesca, and later in Shakespeare roles including Mark Antony (Julius Caesar), Macbeth, Prospero, Malvolio and Hamlet. He was Otello opposite John Gielgud's Iago in a 1932 BBC radio production. He appeared in a number of films, including: Henry VIII, The Prisoner of Zenda, As You Like It and The First Mrs Fraser. Maria Aitken - born 1945; British actress and director. Fred Allandale - 1872-1921, British actor, singer and song composer. He starred in musical comedies including The Girl Behind the Counter, Jack and Jill, A Pantomime Rehearsal and Miss Hook of Holland. He was married to actress Maie Ash, who famously played the title role in Monkton and Talbot's Our Miss Gibbs at the Crystal Palace Theatre in 1911. He wrote a number of songs including "All the time is summertime with you" and "My Honey dear" - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed postcard, signed: "With all best wishes, Fred Allandale". Mary Astor - 1906-1987, American movie actress who became a star playing opposite John Barrymore in Beau Brummel and Don Juan, and later starred in talkies such as Red Dust, The Prisoner of Zenda and The Great Lie for which she won an Academy Award. Her most famous role was as Brigid O'Shaughnessy in The Maltese Falcon, a role which she reprised in Across The Pacific. Scandal surrounding a messy divorce brought a temporary halt to her career, but it took off again with major roles in Meet Me in St. Louis, Act of Violence and Stranger in My Arms - 3.5 x 5.5 inches (9 x 14 cm) autographed photo. Richard Attenborough - 1923-2014, British actor, film director and producer, and elder brother of Sir David Attenborough. From the 1950s onwards he was a prolific actor in films, including I'm All Right Jack, Brighton Rock, The Great Escape, 10 Rillington Place, Miracle on 34th Street and Jurassic Park. He produced several films including Whistle Down the Wind before becoming a director: Young Winston, A Bridge Too Far, Chaplin and Shadowlands, and in 1982 he won the Oscar for Best Director with his film Ghandi. Irving, she made her London debut as Hippolyta in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1894, and went on to play numerous Shakespeare roles. Kenny Baker - 1912-1985; American actor, singer and comedian, who had an excellent tenor voice. He frequently appeared on the radio with Jack Benny with comedy sketches and songs, and he appeared in 17 films, including King of Burlesque, Mr Dodd Takes the Air, The Calendar Girl, The Harvey Girls, and the 1939 film version of Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado, in which he played the role of Nanki-Poo. On Broadway he starred with Mary Martin in the musical One Touch of Venus - 5 x 7 inches (13 x 18 cm) autographed photo. Condition: slight wear to lower corners. £30   [ref: KB2]
